Language in Motion: Finding Confidence Through French Theatre

Posted on: 14/11/2025
Our week of trips continued with a visit to LEH School, where students enjoyed a
performance by the Onatti Theatre Company — a lively play delivered almost entirely in
French by two native-speaking actors. Their energy, humour, and expression brought
the language to life, making it accessible and fun for everyone. A few of our students
even joined the actors on stage, adding to the excitement.

Bibi in Year 9 shared their experience:

“On Wednesday morning, I attended a play at LEH with Hampton High where the actors
spoke in French. The play was about a girlfriend and a boyfriend who decided to plan a
party whilst facing many challenges and disagreements. It was very funny, and although
the actors were speaking fluently in French, it was quite easy to understand. It tested
my knowledge and helped advance my vocabulary. I also enjoyed that the actors took
volunteers from the audience to speak French and play different characters. Overall, it
was a great experience and I had a lot of fun!”

It was a brilliant reminder of how powerful immersion can be — showing students that
language isn’t just something learned in a classroom, but something lived, enjoyed, and
shared.
