At Hampton High we support students not only academically, but pastorally in their emotional and social wellbeing.
Every child meets their tutor in tutor groups each day. Your child’s form tutor should be the first port of call for queries. In addition to this we employ non-teaching professionals who run 'the hub'. They work alongside the Heads of Year and external agencies when necessary to support our students with their emotional and social needs. These may be short-term interventions or longer programmes of change.
It is widely recognised that a child’s emotional health and wellbeing influences their cognitive development and learning, as well as their physical and social health and their mental wellbeing in adulthood. Our aim is to support each student as an individual.
Our pastoral support system and tutorial programmes which includes dedicated PSHE lessons focuses on key areas of mental health and wellbeing which are both relevant and meaningful. We know the benefits of positive mental health and research has shown that children and young people with good mental health:
- Do better at school
- Develop good relationships with friends and family
- Develop a sense of right and wrong
- Learn from their experiences
- Have the confidence to try new things
- Develop resilience to face life challenges
The support systems in place are accessible to students throughout the school day from 8am – 4pm. Additionally our pastoral leaders work extremely hard to ensure any queries or concerns from parents and carers are dealt with swiftly and effectively.
