Behaviour, Recognition & Rewards

High expectations. Recognition that notices.

Our four school values sit at the heart of how we behave and work together:

Respect • Collaboration • Resilience • Aspiration

We want expectations to be clear and consistent, but equally importantly, we want pupils to know that their effort, improvement, contribution and positive choices are noticed.

Recognising pupils getting it right

Staff can recognise pupils through three levels of positive recognition:

+1 – Living Our Values
For the positive choices and behaviours we want to see every day.

+2 – Above & Beyond
For something that goes beyond our everyday expectations.

+3 – Exceptional
For genuinely exceptional achievement, contribution or demonstration of our values.

Parents and carers can receive positive notifications through Arbor when their child is recognised, providing another opportunity to celebrate success at home.

Every tutor. Three pupils. Every week.

Each week, every tutor selects three pupils for particular recognition.

This could be for achievement, effort, improvement, contribution, positive choices or demonstrating our school values.

These pupils receive a Hampton High Weekly Recognition Certificate, additional positive recognition in Arbor and a positive message home.

Importantly, recognition is not simply about having the most points. We want to notice the pupil who has worked particularly hard, made a better choice, shown resilience, contributed to their community or quietly done the right thing.

Recognition that builds across the year

Throughout the year, pupils have opportunities for half-termly and termly recognition, including formal certificates, badges and special recognition for significant achievement, improvement, attendance, contribution and character.

We want to celebrate different kinds of success and different stories of achievement.

When things go wrong

Alongside recognition, pupils need clear and predictable boundaries.

Our approach gives pupils opportunities to correct a mistake, restore relationships and make their next choice a better one, while ensuring that behaviour which disrupts learning or affects others is dealt with consistently.

Where difficulties become repeated, our focus is not simply on accumulating consequences. We want to understand what is happening and coordinate the appropriate support.

Working together

Our aim is straightforward: high expectations, consistent practice and a culture in which pupils feel noticed and valued.

Get it right? We will notice.
Get it wrong? We will help you put it right.
Tomorrow is another opportunity.
