Safeguarding

Hampton High recognises that safeguarding incidents can happen in any school and all staff must be alert to possible concerns being raised. We will provide a safe and welcoming environment where students feel secure, are listened to and are safe, as well as feeling respected and valued. We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that children receive effective support, protection and justice. 

We recognise and emphasise the need for good levels of communication between all members of the school community - staff, students, parents and carers and external agencies - in order to place student welfare at the core of our practice. 

The procedures for ensuring and promoting safe, healthy and positive environments in the school follow these principles: 

• The interests and welfare of the child are paramount. We will uphold the right of all children and young people to be protected from abuse regardless of race, culture, religion, gender, sexuality or disability
• Every child is entitled to be known as an individual and to be offered help and guidance with regard to their personal, social and learning needs
• All students are equipped through the curriculum with the knowledge and skills to stay safe from abuse and to make informed choices to stay healthy and to know who to go to for support
• All staff are committed to providing a caring, safe and positive environment for all students in which to develop and achieve more than they thought possible.
