A stronger sense of belonging

The Hampton High House System brings pupils and staff together in six communities that promote belonging, participation, leadership and healthy competition.

Every pupil is part of a House and has opportunities throughout the year to contribute, represent their House, earn House points and celebrate the achievements of others.

Our six Houses

Attenborough — Green
Inspired by Sir David Attenborough, celebrating curiosity, responsibility and care for our world.

Curie — Yellow
Inspired by Marie Curie, celebrating determination, discovery and a commitment to learning.

Nightingale — Purple
Inspired by Florence Nightingale, celebrating compassion, service and positive action.

Mandela — Blue
Inspired by Nelson Mandela, celebrating courage, leadership, respect and community.

Shackleton — Orange
Inspired by Ernest Shackleton, celebrating resilience, teamwork and perseverance.

Atwood — Red
Inspired by Margaret Atwood, celebrating creativity, independent thought and the power of ideas.

What the House System offers

Belonging and community
Pupils build connections across year groups and contribute to a shared House identity.

Competition and participation
A varied programme gives pupils different ways to take part, including sport, creative arts, STEM, quizzes, chess, photography, poetry and seasonal challenges.

Leadership
House Captains and other pupil leadership roles give pupils opportunities to organise, represent, encourage and lead.

Recognition and rewards
Pupils can earn House points through participation, achievement, effort and positive contribution. House totals are celebrated through regular leaderboards and assemblies.

Character and wider development
House activities encourage teamwork, resilience, creativity, responsibility, communication and confidence.

Community and charity
House-led fundraising and community projects help pupils turn our school values into practical action.

House competitions and events

The programme runs across the school year and is designed so that pupils with different interests and strengths can represent their House.

Activities may include the Hampton High Bake-Off, photography and poetry competitions, dodgeball, chess, cross-country, STEM challenges, themed seasonal events and participation challenges.

Giving back

Service is an important part of the House System. Pupils are encouraged to support charitable and community initiatives, including fundraising campaigns and seasonal appeals.

These projects provide practical opportunities to work together and make a positive contribution beyond the classroom.

Celebrating success

House points and competition results contribute to a running leaderboard. Progress is shared through House assemblies and school communications, helping pupils see how individual effort contributes to collective success.

The emphasis is not only on winning, but on participation, improvement, teamwork and representing Hampton High positively.

How families can get involved

Families can support the House programme by encouraging participation, celebrating House achievements and engaging with selected House events, competitions, charity initiatives and school communications during the year.
