"A group of us travelled to Orleans Park School for the annual Eco-Conference — a day
that brought students from across local schools together to share ideas and learn more
about protecting our planet.

We began with a talk from a physicist who had transformed his own home to be more
eco-friendly. He showed us how small changes — from heat pumps to quick “navy
showers” — can make a big difference. Seeing the science behind it all, even with a
fridge and a thermal camera, made it feel real and inspiring.

Afterwards, we built bug hotels before taking part in The Great Environmental Debate.
Our team presented on protecting field margins, and although I was nervous at first, it
was exciting to share our ideas and hear so many creative approaches — one team
even sang their presentation!

What I enjoyed most was working alongside new people and seeing how everyone
brought different strengths and ideas. It reminded me how collaboration can make
learning richer and more meaningful.

It was fun, informative, and most of all, interesting to know all these things about
environmental friendliness."

The Eco-Conference highlighted how experiences like this build confidence, deepen
curiosity, and help nurture the problem-solvers and thoughtful collaborators our world
needs for the future.

Thank you to Kashyn for writing such a thoughtful reflection on the day.
