Football report written by Stan Curd in Year 8

On Tuesday 12th December, a few of the boys from Year 7 and Year 8 competed in the Year 8 Borough Football Tournament verses Grey Court, Richmond Park Academy, Twickenham School, St. Richard Reynolds and Christ’s.

The team were drawn in a group with Grey Court and Richmond Park Academy. First, we beat Richmond Park Academy 1-0, with Billy Davis getting the goal from the right ride of the box after some relentless attacking play. Grey Court beat Richmond 2-0; meaning Hampton High had to beat Grey Court to go top of the group. A draw would see Grey Court win the group on goal difference.

Hampton High took on Grey Court in the final game of the group. Charlie George scored an early goal from the left side of the box to give Hampton High the lead. The boys battled and defended to keep the lead, however with the ball notching off Stan Curd to the Grey Court striker, they equalised with the last kick of the game.

Hampton High had to settle for second place in the group, playing Twickenham School in the third place game. We won 2-1 with goals from Ruben Doe and Stan Curd.

Overall, the boys were unlucky and and played some great football throughout the tournament. The team consisted of: Kristian Farrell, Billy Davis, Phi Nguyen, Charlie George, Frankie Allen, Stan Curd, Ted Curd and Jackson Birch.
