Volunteer Covid Testers
Hampton High volunteers for mass testing
Thank you again for volunteering to help with the mass testing of students. Over the course of the next 2-3 weeks, we anticipate having to oversee over 2,400 test being administered. This is in compliance with the DfE guidelines for a full opening of the school from 8 March. Each student is to be tested 3 times at 3-5 day intervals, before starting to test twice-weekly at home.
The lateral flow tests are not compulsory, but are seen as a factor in mitigating the possible transmission of covid19, thereby helping to make the school safer for all.
The DfE has advised that the testing workforce be made up of volunteers, along with school staff. The key roles are:
- Test assistant and processor
- Registration assistant
- Results recorder
- Student management team
All volunteers assisting with testing are asked to undertake a training module. This is online and lasts around 15 minutes per module. Please click here to read about this. Page 14 gives details about how to register and access the training modules.
Please could you do the training before coming on site next week. We would also recommend doing all training modules so that there is greater flexibility should there be gaps in provision on the day. We would never ask you to do a role with which you are uncomfortable.
Once you have done the training, you are asked to complete a short competency test. This will generate a certificate. Please can you save this and then forward it to: volunteer@hamptonhigh.org.uk.
You will also be asked to read and sign a risk assessment. Please click here to read this now. We will have a copy printed off for you and ready to sign when you come in for training.
If you are able to, there will be an opportunity from 8.00 am on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of next week to come in to school to sign the risk assessment, familiarise yourself with the testing site and see where the PPE and other relevant supplies are. Please do not worry if you are unable to attend at this time. We will be asking you to wear a red lanyard on site for safeguarding purposes.
Once again, thank you so much for volunteering to help us with this mammoth endeavour.
