Food preparation and Nutrition students

Year 11 have been working hard to complete their 3 hour practical assessment task for their Food preparation and Nutrition GCSE exam. This work forms part of their non-exam assessment work which is 50% of their overall grade. Everyone was very pleased with their outcomes and what they were able to do in the time, everyone had finished in the 3 hours, which just left the pile of washing up to tackle!

Ms Broome, Head of Technology and Art would like to thank our technician, Mrs Sumpter for all of her support and efforts to ensure this task was completed smoothly.

Latifah can be seen here making her own spinach ravioli with a pasta making machine that was kindly donated through the FoHH by parent, Denise Padachi.

Following on from the wonderful successes of Year 11, the Year 10s have shown that they are also very capable in the kitchen. Last week they completed a mini assessment task to plan, make and evaluate the making of 2 items in the double lesson. The task was to make a soup of their choice with a batch of savoury scones.

The pictures below show how well they worked and the thought that went into presentation.  Every student made a different soup, some used the blenders to make their soups smooth whilst others kept theirs chunky. This certainly proved to be a good preparation task for the longer exam to be taken in Year 11! Ms Broome would like to congratulate the students for coping so well.
