Announcement

Sponsored Walk - Thursday 19 July

Dear Families,

Sponsored Walk 2018:
Date: Thursday 19 July

Venue: Twickenham Rugby Training Ground, South Road, Hampton, TW12 3PE.
Our annual sponsored walk will be taking place on Thursday 19 July. The sponsored walk began in 2015 to commemorate the lives of a year 11 student and a member of staff whom we lost to cancer. The event has been in place in the summer term each year since.

This year, our students have chosen to support Shooting Star Chase, The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and an in-house project at Hampton High which will be agreed by the student council.

This is a whole community event and we have set our students a challenge of raising a minimum of £10,000 by walking 10 kilometres. This is on average approximately £20 sponsorship per student. Attached to this letter is the sponsorship form for your child to complete. They should return the sponsorship form and all monies collected by Friday 13 July to ensure that we can present cheques to our chosen charities.

In order to ensure a smooth start to the day and to accommodate all our students and staff, there will be a staggered start to the walk. Students are expected to make their own way to and from the training ground and will be registered by their tutors upon arrival. Students are expected to wear their PE kit on the day and are advised to wear comfortable, appropriate walking shoes or trainers. We estimate the walk will take approximately 1½ hours. In addition, there will be an hour set aside for lunch.
Registration times are as follows:

Year 7 10am
Year 8 10.30am
Year 9 11am
Year 10 11.30am

On completion of their walk, students will have their packed lunch in the grounds. There will also be an opportunity to buy barbecue food and drinks should students wish to do so. If we are lucky enough to have fine weather, please ensure your child is equipped with sun cream and a hat.

Thursday 19 July is a normal school day and therefore your child’s attendance is compulsory. Students will be dismissed from the training ground after their lunch which will be approximately 3 hours after they have registered in the morning.

This is an important community event for the school and we hope that you will support your child in raising money for these good causes. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact your child’s head of year.

Yours sincerely,
Heads of Year 7-13
