Within our book group over the last few weeks we have been focusing on the books nominated for the Kate Greenaway illustration award. These books have ranged from stories aimed at small children, a book focused on first animals and books aimed at teenage readers. Wednesday was our last day of looking at these books and we had a go at doing our own charcoal drawings just like the author and illustrator of The Night Shift, Debi Gliori. For the contents of their drawings the students took their inspiration from all the different books we have read, and with the support from the artistic Miss Durkan, explored how to use charcoal as an art median.
We are now moving on to the Carnegie reading books. Students are welcome to join Wednesday lunchtimes in the library.
