Young Chef of the Year Competition
Beatrice O'Riodan and Sophie Creech competed against 46 other teams from 13 schools to make it to the final of the Richmond Young Chef competition on Thursday 15 March. Competition was so fierce, 6 teams instead of 4 made it through to the final. Competitors are free to choose any style of cuisine and ingredients, but must include chicken in the main course and any type of pastry in the dessert. Beatrice and Sophie only had 90 minutes to make a mouth watering chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella and pesto wrapped in prosciutto and a Dutch apple tart for dessert. The Finalists’ food was tasted and scored by a panel of Judges: Sharon Cousins, Director of Student Services, Barbara Gilgallon, Chair of Govenors, Grant Martindale, Curriculum Director and Anton Manganaro, Head Chef for BAFTA. After a tense wait a decision was made. Sadly, Sophie and Beatrice didn’t win but came runners up. A massive achievement for the girls given such stiff competition. We are immensely proud of them!
