Posted on: 21/04/2017 Y7 boys football team top the group after a win away at Teddington The Year 7 football team maintain their unbeaten run with a 2-1 victory away to Teddington. The win puts Hampton High on 10 points, after playing four (winning three games and drawing one).
The boys made the journey over to Teddington School knowing that a win would take them top of the group.
Captain Stan Curd provided this summary of the match:
Hampton High were 1-0 down after the first half which meant Hampton High had to score 2 in the second half to make the final (due to Teddington also being unbeaten, Hampton High had to win). Within the first 5 minutes of the second half HH equalised, with Billy Davis heading the ball into the back of the net, with Phi Nguyen assisting the goal from an excellent cross from a corner. With the momentum, they battled on. Ruben Doe beat the offside trap, and fired the ball into the back of the net as Hampton High completed the comeback and sent them into the final.
Auron Deila had yet another great game in goal, making key saves and the back two of Kian Le Gros and Jake Chaudry performed with strong challenges and good decisions. Wing backs Kai Jones and Kristian Farrell both had exceptional games, running themselves into the ground! Stan Curd had another solid game, controlling the game well and Billy Davis worked his socks off attacking and defending for his side. The front two of inform Phi Nguyen and Ruben Doe had fantastic games and regularly bought others into play. Impact subs, Rakeem Karim and Morgan Wainwright, both played out of their skin to provide for the team at both ends. Great persistence and determination from the boys; let's hope they can repeat these performances in the final, which we have been working so hard for a long time for and we would appreciate it if we could have as much support as possible when we find out the date, time and venue.
Well done to all of the boys for the hard-work over the four games. Details of the final will be announced shortly.
As ever, thanks to the travelling Hampton High faithful for their continued support.
