Year 6 Transition
We are delighted that you have accepted a place at Hampton High for your child to start in September 2017. The move between primary and secondary school is a very important step in your son/daughter’s education, and it is our intention to ensure that the transition process is a positive and reassuring experience for both you and your child.
There are several key dates for the summer term that form part of our transition programme:
Tuesday 20th June: Year 6 into 7 interviews. 3:30-6:00pm
Towards the end of May, you will receive an appointment time to attend an informal meeting with a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). This is an important opportunity for us to find out more about your child’s interests, abilities and tutor group preferences, as well as a chance for you to discuss any questions you may have at this stage. At this meeting, you will receive a welcome pack that will provide you with key information about Year 7 and our school expectations. I look forward very much to seeing you there.
Monday 3rd July: Year 6 induction day. 8:30-3:00pm
Your child will meet his/her tutor on this day, and take part in taster lessons across a range of subjects. You will receive a letter with more details about the induction day in early June.
Week beginning 24th July: Summer School
Your child will receive an invitation to take part in our Summer School. This is a further opportunity for your child to meet his/her new classmates and teachers, and participate in a range of activities, including two excursions. You will receive further details about the itinerary and booking process in early June.
An electronic copy of the data collection form and medical information form are availble to download from this page along with the recent information letter sent to parents. These forms should be completed and returned to school no later than Friday 19 May. The email address for electronic returns is firstname.lastname@example.org. It is our intention that the majority of our correspondence is paperless. Therefore, I should be grateful if you would ensure that a valid email address is included as part of your contact details on the data collection form.
